The Conversation: You and I — What’s inside

Letroy WoodsWhen I fell into the dark, I also fell into myself. Nothing is by accident; life happens with intent and purpose. In the end, we are all stuck with ourselves. We must begin with due diligence of intent. Our time would be wasted and disrespectful if we are not honest with ourselves. Purposely aiming to create a solution to division, in a collective effort for more valuable relationships, is the goal for unity.
Not truly understanding oneself is a courageous path not often taken. With certainty lacking authenticity with ourselves, it bears its own convictions. What is revealed in this conversation is the endurance of suffering of not facing what is trying to show itself to us. There is something bigger at stake than just ourselves on this journey. What we leave behind is not just in tangible assets, but in intangible becomings. Truth is in everything. Certain things should be addressed before we leave this world. Above all, the subdivision among households should be one of them.
We are all one and strong together when we are working in harmony. Strength comes in numbers, but the humility of this understanding begins in solitude. We are makers of our own world. Bondage exists because it exists within the heart of the individual. This becomes a disease if not given attention. Each individual is a piece of the whole. Public acts of self-care are displayed as love for ourselves, which is then extended outwardly.
“A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved– I do not expect the house to fall–but I do expect it will cease to exist to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.” — Abraham Lincoln
The conversation is where one lives and dwells and cannot be escaped, even if we shove it in the far corners of the darkness. Progress is the goal, not perfection, because each of us has our stuff, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still offer value. What will your stance be on how you see yourself, and the actions taken throughout this process? With practice, courage will become an attribute leaned on by default in your time of need. Our future generations are depending on us to pass down who we become.
