This is the season of giving and receiving. Examining this statement rests on one’s perception of what value is. The occasion for offering value, while being open as the reciprocating benefactor, is a choice for every day of the year. What is a gift? One cannot offer what they have not given to themselves first; otherwise, what is offered is empty and desolate.

From some of the earliest recorded meanings of the word gift, it means inspiration. Inspiration entails to breathe life into another. Good luck and wishes fulfilled come with the gift and the seeds of influence. The true nature of what is inside of us does not lie in physicalities. A pattern that has been spoken about at length with The Conversation is that of first giving away that which you desire to return to yourself.

Outside of what we call the holidays, gifts are often given with hidden agendas, motives, and intentions. A gift holds the value of time within itself and an energy that can be bottled and used at will in one’s time of need. The divine that resides within all human beings is ever-expanding and everlasting. Although we must choose this part of ourselves because the power of the gift is in choice and intention.

There is no right or wrong way in gift-giving, and your intention to breathe life into another can forever change the life of the one who receives the present. The monetary value is not where the power lies in your present. It is the idea and the heart of the gift that will bring transformation.

What do the holidays represent for you? The gift, if done correctly, can transcend time and generations. Giving and receiving brings about an overflowing wave of abundance in the whole system of giving. The DNA of our essence is the same. What is inside of me is the same within all. Let our gifts to one another this season elevate us to new heights, possibilities, and beliefs.

The conversation is the place where one lives and dwells, and the first place where the gift is found. Challenge yourself this season by transforming yourself through breathing life into another this holiday season. Who could you become if the cycle of giving never ceased throughout all 12 months of the year?

“I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.”
