OGDEN — The Seager Memorial Clinic’s annual free health screening day is around the corner.

According to a press release from the Seager Memorial Clinic, this year’s free health screening day is set for Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Ogden-Weber Technical College’s Health Technology Building located at 200 N. Washington Boulevard, Ogden.

Executive Director of Seager Memorial Clinic Jerika Mays told the Standard-Examiner the free health screening day is now in its fifth year.

“We provide free medical, dental, vision, mental health and pharmacy services for the underserved in our community,” she said. “Many of our patients are uninsured, under-insured, facing homelessness or experiencing a financial hardship. They’re able to meet with a physician or provider and receive the medications they need at no cost.”

She said the screening day is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

“It’s open to all comers,” she said. “We won’t turn anyone away. We don’t require appointments, identification or paperwork to receive care that day. There will be a variety free health screenings and free services for community members.”

Mays said services offered will include dental cleanings for the first 30 patients, vision checks, immunizations, depression screenings, skin cancer screenings, colon cancer screenings, gonorrhea and chlamydia screenings, breast and cervical cancer checks, blood pressure checks, HIV and hepatitis C screenings and diabetes and cholesterol screenings. A taco truck will also be on hand giving out free tacos.

She said the annual health screening day has grown substantially over the last few years, but it has been well supported.

“We used to hold this event at our clinic in the basement of the Ogden Rescue Mission,” she said. “As we’ve seen a greater turnout year-after-year, we really outgrew the space, so we now host the event at the Health Technology Building at Ogden-Weber Technical College. It’s a much larger and beautiful space to host this event. Additionally, they involve their students from various medical programs to volunteer and participate along with faculty, so we are grateful for our partnership with OTECH and all that they’ve contributed to help us grow this event.”

Anyone with questions is encouraged to call the Seager Memorial Clinic at 801-528-2396.

Starting at $4.32/week.
