The Conversation: Feeling alive

Can you imagine what it would feel like to live out the desires of your heart? Surrounded by all that cooperates and guides us to our greatness requires silence from the outside noise and negativity, guidance through the internal chatter, and the willingness to interpret feedback that we do not comprehend. Choice is one aspect that separates humans from animals. Either we choose to be alive, or by default, we become complacent.
We are all chasing a feeling, something that is already a part of us all, but pushed down deep, forgotten, and sought. The heart wishes to be awoken; however, the lie is strong that we tell ourselves that we are not worthy or capable. This column is for both our gain, as I am also in the human condition. Everything matters, and the voice of our intuition influences us to move our feet into something we have forgotten. Our days are spent lying to ourselves and blaming the world for our conditions.
“I don’t believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive.” — Joseph Campbell
Having integrity and facing the person in the mirror is difficult, and partly why this wisdom has not been passed along to its predecessors. Naiveness is easier to navigate than the truth. Do you love what you do for a living? We can agree that we are not of this world, and what our true nature seeks is not of this world. Deep within our organic matter resides an energy with no name that is drawn to other energy like itself. In our child-like nature is where one has to visit to find that thing that makes them feel alive, where we get lost in the reality of the creation and become one with it. Our lives are spent on adventures, pursuing this feeling as we become fixated on thinking that physical attainment can fill the void.
Becoming something, becoming someone, is the heart’s desire. Are you happy with who you have chosen to become? To become alive requires change, transformation, and reflection. The conversation is where one lives and dwells, and the foundation for finding the feeling of being alive again, just like when we were children.
“When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this: you haven’t.” — Thomas Edison
