Off-highway vehicles (OHVs) have become a catchall term for the ATV community. Back in the day, there were only ATVs. Now that UTVs have taken center stage, a term is needed to include them both. Jeeps are OHVs, but I think they are in a class of their own.

Anyway, we are in the Christmas shopping season, and no doubt there are RZR riders on your list. Usually, you would need to know more about what floats their boats or what makes them tick. Let me save you some time by listing a few gift ideas they could use on the trail –

Riding Gloves

These are descendants of a list of gear used by old open-air model-T drivers, which, in addition to a coat, goggles, and a driving cap, included driving gloves. These were usually made of leather. Riding gloves for today’s riders are colorful and functional. Often padded on the palm of the glove for extra comfort, the material is breathable and designed to wick away moisture.

Colors for men in the workaday world are usually subdued. On the trail, a man can break out of that drab world with colorful gear. You can wear colors that match or clash with your jersey.

I enjoy an array of colorful riding gear, which, to my way of thinking, makes me easier to find when I get lost. A pair of riding gloves will run about $30.

Riding Jerseys

I can’t talk about riding gloves without mentioning riding jerseys. As with gloves, these are colorful and fun to wear. They are designed to keep the rider cooler than regular T-shirts with their mesh material. Riding with bright colors will get you noticed on the trail and keep you safe. Local OHV dealers carry an attractive selection of riding jerseys priced from $35 to $70.

Neck Gaiters

Neck gaiters have become very popular with the OHV crowd. They can be described as seamless bandanas and are very versatile. Wear one on your neck for UV protection, as a headband, wristband, beanie, face shield, or hood. When driving a UTV, I will use it as a hood to keep my ball cap from blowing away. I may look funny, but ask me if I care.

On a hot day, use your gaiter to cool down by soaking it in cold water before putting it on your neck. Cold-weather gaiters are made of a heavier cloth for winter wear.

They are washable, reusable, and inexpensive, about $5. One found in a stocking on Christmas morning is sure to please.

UTV Seatbelt Sleeves

UTVs are becoming more comfortable on the trail with better suspension and bigger tires, but that doesn’t mean you still don’t get thrown around a bit inside the cab. A seatbelt sleeve is made of a soft material that prevents the belt from rubbing your neck or shoulders. They are easy to put on and an inexpensive improvement to comfort.

Lunch Box Oven

Where trail cuisine consists of crackers and cheese, this gift will not disappoint, especially if your friend is a foody. The lunch box oven is a mini oven about the size of your grandpa’s lunch box that plugs into the machine’s accessory outlet. It will heat about a quart of food to 300 degrees.

I have served tacos with all the trimmings, burritos, hot dogs, baked beans, sloppy joes, and Chinese lettuce wraps on the trail. They are a favorite among long-haul truckers and can be found at truck stops or online for about $40.

An ATV Club Membership

A club membership is an ideal gift. I belong to the NUATV group, a like-minded community of people who love riding the trails together. In 2025, the club offered its members 50 different riding events across Utah and in surrounding states. The rides are well organized, and the number of riders on each ride is small enough for people to get to know each other.

The calendar also includes a summer social in the park with a scrumptious picnic, and a Christmas party featuring a prime rib dinner at special member prices. $75 covers everyone residing in your house. Dues paid now are good through 2026. Go to www.NUATV.com for membership information.

These are the kinds of gifts that are fun to give and will create bonds between the giver and receiver. When you go out on the trail, take plenty of water, keep the rubber side down, and have fun shopping for your OHV friends this Christmas.
