The TX. 10: Best summer foods and treats
1. Ice cream: Everyone loves ice cream, and it’s even better in the hot summertime!
2. Popsicles: They’re like the adopted cousins of ice cream. Both are cold and refreshing, but Popsicles can be juicy and fruity too.
3. Hamburgers: A classic food for summer barbecues.
4. Watermelon: Every week, my little sister and I beg our parents to buy more watermelon. The crisp, juicy flavor keeps us cool in the awful heat.
5. Fruity Pebbles Rice Krispies Treats: This is just something my mom makes very often for us, and it’s a very tasty and chewy snack.
6. Root Beer: This beverage also goes along with summer barbecues; root beer is just a classic refreshing drink for a hot day.
7. Grapes: Just like watermelon, grapes — and pretty much any other fruit — work perfectly during the summer for a nice afternoon snack.
8. Popcorn: During the summertime, I like to wind down my days with a bowl of popcorn and a movie.
9. Corn on the cob: Though I personally don’t like corn so much, I do notice that people eat it a lot in the summer, especially with the Fourth of July and other holidays we celebrate.
10. Pie: This is another kind of personal one, but often, we go over to my grandma’s house to eat dinner, and she always has a pie ready for us at the end of the meal.
