”Things are what they are, and whatever will be, will be.” – Jonas Jonasson

A book with such a long title may appear to be confusing or even long-winded. However, the novel ”The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared” by Jonas Jonasson is neither!

If you are looking for a lighthearted, fun read, this is the book for you. Allan Karlsson is a 100-year-old man who has lived an extremely adventurous life. Some might think that a centenarian like Allan would just whittle their time away, but he does the exact opposite.

All it takes is a bold decision and Allan is on his way. This gentleman is extremely witty, intelligent and spontaneous. In addition, Allan is a quick thinker and he is able to solve problems in many exciting ways. Interestingly enough, the book includes snippets of Allan’s younger days, as well, when he was involved in many crucial events in history, such as the Manhattan Project. He also becomes friends with President Harry Truman!

With a whirlwind of exciting characters and unique situations, you’ll definitely want to read this book again. An interesting fact about this novel: The English version is a translation! The book was originally written in Swedish in 2009, but it became so popular that it was translated.

Whether you’re fluent in English, Swedish or both, this book is an excellent read. It will encourage you to live your life to the fullest!
