HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Several reservists from the 419th Fighter Wing participated in the Murph Challenge June 3 to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The challenge is named after Navy Lt. Mike Murphy, a SEAL killed in action during Operation Red Wings. Traditionally done on Memorial Day, the challenge consists of a one-mile run followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 pushups, 300 air squats, and another one-mile run.

“We hold events like this to recognize that we serve for a deeper purpose,” said Senior Master Sgt. Justin Adams, 419th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron first sergeant, and challenge organizer. “We’re not just here for a paycheck, to gain rank, or to put a medal on our chest. We’re here for a bigger purpose and this event reminds us of that.”

While the Murph is known as an extremely difficult workout, all participants successfully completed the challenge.

Starting at $4.32/week.
