Sunset mayor

No response was received from candidate ?Ty Swenson.?

Chad Bangerter?

Age:

45?

Occupation:

President, CBR Inc. of Sunset?

Qualifications:

Four years on city council, one year planning commission, other civic involvement. I have attended city council, planning commission, Citizen Corps meetings for six-plus years. ?

1.

This is a problem the city has been dealing with for years. With my knowledge of the city and the growth of west side development of Hill AFB, (Falcon Hill), I will attend crucial meetings that could bring vital economic growth to Sunset. But with that said, this is not the answer, to sit around and wait for other developers to come to us. We need to be active in updating our city with new businesses that will strengthen our tax base. I have the support of past and current council members, mayors and also many employees of Sunset City. I work at and own a successful business in the city, and will be a valuable resource to a balanced budget. I have a good relationship with many other businesses in Sunset. Therefore I will be here for you, I can leave work to attend meetings.?

2.

Can we cut any more? We already have lost most of our activities at Fun Days. No more newsletters, no COLA for employees and on and on. This is a problem that I saw coming years ago. Having run a successful business in the city, I would have planned better. To answer the question, there will be no more cuts made in city services. ?

3.

Growth: My involvement with Falcon Hill development started in 2005 when I was a council member in the beginning of the development. This is a huge issue for the city being able to adjust for development without losing that small-town feel.?Crime: Being involved with the Citizen Corps as the commander of volunteer police program, I understand that we need to be active with mobile watch programs, CERT, and the Citizens Corps, which I fully support to deter crime.?

Ryan D. Furniss?

Age:

33?

Occupation:

LDS Church security?

Qualifications:

Two years on the Sunset City Council, member North Davis Sewer District Board of Trustees, served the last three years as a volunteer police chaplain.?

1.

I want to focus on the valuable resources the city already has. Its great location along ?Interstate 15 gives potential businesses a prime location for their businesses to be seen by the thousands of vehicles who use I-15 daily. I want to develop and sell our untapped water resources, our city well. It has sat unused for too long, and with some initial investment could yield the city more revenue. As Northern Utah grows water is in constant demand. In addition, if necessary we have a large piece of land behind the city office building we could sell and develop more?housing.?

2.

I believe no cuts will be needed in providing the basic services the city is already providing. Yes, we rely on sales tax but are not as dependent on it as some of our surrounding cities, and we do not base our budget off of any impact fees. ?

3.

One of my main priorities has been seeing that Sunset City is on board with the Falcon Hill Development on Hill Air Force Base. I have fought for Sunset’s voice since the day I was elected to the council two years ago. It will be a great asset to all of the state, Northern Utah, the county and especially Sunset City when this project is complete. I see businesses flowing over into our prime location in relation to the base and the development.
