OGDEN — The year rolling into August is a sign the Weber County Fair is just around the corner.

This year’s fair, which runs Wednesday through Saturday, will be filled with a mix of activities from old favorites such as the junior livestock auction and the demolition derby — which has already sold out — to new offerings.

According to Fair Director Ashton Wilson, this year will include a new comedy show.

“Thursday is historically our slower day, so we try to mix it up to bring people in,” she said. “We’ve got a comedy show that’s free with fair admission. I partnered with Wiseguys in downtown Ogden and they brought in some awesome entertainers for us.”

She said there also will be a new activity aimed at kids.

“We have Cowtown USA from back east,” she said. “They have demonstrations they do for the kids in our kid’s zone. They milk a cow, they make ice cream, they do all sorts of fun, interactive stuff like that.”

There will also be a dog show at this year’s fair among other new attractions.

Wilson said there’s a lot of buzz and excitement for getting this year’s fair underway after switching gears on marketing.

“We’ve had some changes as far as our marketing group,” she said. “We had some hiccups with our previous agency the last couple of years, so we’re excited to kind of build on the momentum. … We’re seeing really good traction, billboard placement, Facebook and Instagram advertising and we’re excited.”

She added that the 2024 Weber County Fair is anticipated to be a success.

“I’m really hopeful for our attendance this year,” she said. “Of course, it’s going to be hot, but we never get away from that. I’m positive. I think our numbers are going to be awesome this year and we’ve got a lot of different options for families to make it a little more affordable to come to as well.”
