Volunteer opportunities available at local organizations

If you are interested in volunteering and do not see what interests you, please call us as we have many more opportunities available and will help you find what interests you and best uses your skills. If your organization is in need of volunteers, please give us a call. 

  • Hill Air Force Base – The Retirees Activities Office is looking for volunteers to help with answering phone calls and walk-in questions. Individuals must have access to getting onto the base and be a dependent of a military or retired military personnel. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday – Thursday.
  • Davis County area needs Meals on Wheels volunteers — drivers and runners. Monday – Friday, hours may vary based on route, around 10:00, routes are about two hours, 10:00 to 12:00. Volunteer one shift a week or as a sub if you cannot commit to a steady schedule.   
  • Make Change Happen. Ring a Bell Help Change a Life! Bell ringers need to help the Salvation Army collect donations outside local businesses. All individuals, families, groups, companies and congregations!  
  • Catholic Community Services has volunteering opportunities in the food pantry setting up, distributing groceries to clients, stocking shelves, cleaning up and assisting with other daily projects. Tuesday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Need help in the food pantry on Wednesday — Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Weber County Animal Shelter needs volunteers over the age of 18. The main need is to walk the dogs. Volunteer needs to be able to walk for 10 to 15 minutes per dog. Volunteers needed Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. If walking dogs isn’t something you can do, they have other areas that need volunteers, like drivers who can transport animals. They also need towels, large or small. 
  • Eccles Community Art Center is looking for volunteers in the Carriage House. Weekdays 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Great way to work on your own art while no customers are in the gift store. Light cleaning and must be able to do sales/cashier. 
  • Alzheimer’s Associations need volunteers for Support Group volunteers. Support Group facilitators create a safe, open environment where people share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia. Facilitate groups of caregivers or people living with dementia to provide social and educational support helping group members provide emotional support to one another. Present pertinent Association materials and information to group members and assure a positive experience for attendees. Support groups are typically once a month for 1 to 1.5 hours. Support Group facilitators prepare about 10 to 15 minutes of a specific topic. For example, in December, a lot of our groups’ topic was “holidays and grief.”
  • Looking to make a difference! Senior Medicare Patrol in Weber and Morgan counties are looking for volunteers. Help prevent Medicare fraud and abuse and educate seniors about Medicare. You can help with distributing information, staffing exhibits or one-on-one Medicare counseling. It is up to you. Training is provided and required. You can do as little or as much. 
  • Are you feeling lonely and 55 years or older? Would you like someone to call you weekly to visit with you? If you would be interested in having someone call you, then contact us.  
  • Eden Streets – Farm Build “Grow Ogden” at 880 28th St., Ogden (northeast corner of First Presbyterian Church). Come build a farm to transitionally employ those facing homelessness. Tools and gloves provided. Further Farm Build dates will appear on JustServe.org.  
  • Weber Morgan County Ombudsman are looking for volunteers to be a voice and advocate for residents in Weber Morgan County nursing home and assisted living facilities. You can improve the quality of residents, advocate for rights, help residents navigate a discharge or eviction and more. This is a good way to increase your knowledge about nursing home regulations and increase your problem-solving skills. There is required training and continuing education. In addition, some great mentoring. Do it on your time schedule. We like an hour commitment a week, but it can be discussed for special situations.
  • Volunteers Needed for Ogden ReStore. Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity’s nonprofit home-improvement thrift store to accept donated items, maintain sales floor and assist customers. Tuesday-Saturday. The last Saturday of every month, they need increased number of volunteers. 
  • A Center for Grieving Children needs volunteers, 18 years or older, to work with children, teens and their families that are experiencing loss because of death, divorce or separation.  We train all new volunteers.  Evening groups 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.   
  • George E. Wahlen-Ogden Veterans Home is looking for volunteers to help with activities, one on ones, go to excursion, filling bird feeders and other things. Most activities are Monday-Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a few evening things thrown in. Need to be able to pass a background check and be vaccinated.   
  • AARP Virtual Trivia Volunteer needed to help facilitate Fun & Fulfillment virtual trivia games on Thursday nights. If any AARP volunteers are looking for opportunities to participate in a fun and engaging program on a recurring basis, contact us for more information.  
  • Perfect opportunity for retired people, students (16 and up) or anyone who has a few hours to spare! The American Red Cross of Northern Utah needs volunteers to check people in at local blood drives and at the fixed site in Layton. It is an easy role; you check in donors, make sure they have completed their health history form, show them where the snacks are and thank them for their donation.  You can even read, knit or study during your down time. They are looking for volunteers one to two days per week at a blood drive.
  • If you love animals, you will love volunteering at the Safe Haven Sanctuary. We are in great need of volunteers at our cat sanctuary just west of Brigham City. Volunteering involves doing daily chores for the cats, loving them, scooping litter boxes, watering, feeding, cleaning, etc. We would need you to commit to two or three hours on whatever day you choose. The time of day is flexible — whatever suits your schedule. 
  • Do you know how to sign language? Fluent in other languages? Hill Aerospace Museum is looking for individuals who can be on call for groups and individuals who need this service while attending the museum. 
  • Onstage Ogden is looking for volunteers to help usher at concerts, staff our info and kids craft booths at summer festivals and markets and setup for our golf tournament. Shifts last three to five hours and most work is outside under a tent, sitting down.
  • Ogden American Legion Post 9 is seeking volunteers for their honor guard. Members perform military funeral honors, flag retirement ceremonies, post colors at events and Eagle Scout court of honors. Training will be provided and assistance is available for uniform purchase.
  • Alzheimer’s Associations need volunteers as Community Educators  to deliver approximately 12 presentations (in person or virtually) annually using prepared Alzheimer’s Association consumer education programs on a variety of care and support topics. Collaborate with local Association staff to expand programs by securing community partners, scheduling presentations, delivering the programs and managing needed materials. Serve as presenter for chapter-scheduled education programs and conferences. Four hours of online instruction and observation of one to two other support group sessions. The online training is self-paced and one does not have to complete it all in one sitting.
  • The Circles program through OWCAP is looking for community members to volunteer as allies and help community members break the circle of poverty. Allies are community members who want to be in a supportive, befriending relationship with an individual or family enrolled in the Circles program. 
  • The American Red Cross is in need of volunteers in your area!  We have many positions available, but two of our most needed are Blood Donor Ambassadors and Disaster Volunteers! Blood Donor Ambassadors volunteer at blood drives and help to check in the blood donors for their appointments. Disaster Volunteers can be boots on the ground in person and respond to disasters big and small or help us in a virtual capacity by being a Duty Officer or a Recovery Team member. 
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters are looking for volunteers. For more details, visit their site at bbbsu.org, click on Be a Big, then on drop down click on Get Started. You will need to read and complete each step. 
  • The Weber County Sport Shooting Complex is looking for volunteers for the following positions: Range Safety Office and Range Reception/Cashier. Volunteers need not be certified but must have a basic knowledge of firearms, firearm safety and must take a four-hour class. Individuals must pass a background check and volunteer a minimum of eight hours per month. Training provided. 
  • Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) gives a child a voice and changes their story. Must be over 21 and able to pass a background check. 
  • Brigham City Meals on Wheels is looking for drivers to deliver meals to clients. Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
  • Bear River Valley Hospital is looking for volunteers to manage the information desk. They would help with giving directions and wheelchair assistance. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9 a.m. to noon or Monday and Wednesday 12 to 3 p.m.
  • Brigham Senior Center is looking for an activities volunteer to teach exercise classes.
