Construction on the bridge over Interstate 15 at 4400 South occurs Monday, Aug. 11, 2025.RIVERDALE — The Utah Department of Transportation has begun work on replacing three bridges in Riverdale, including the 4400 South bridge over Interstate 15 and separate ramp bridges that connect I-15 to I-84 over 4400 South.
Crews were on site Monday, and the construction is expected to last for 10 months, according to UDOT. Work hours will generally run from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
From now until late November, 4400 South will be closed between 1600 West, or Airport Road, and Cozy Dale Drive while crews work to demolish and rebuild the bridge over I-15. The 4400 South closure will extend to 1250 West, or Parker Drive, for approximately six weeks, beginning on Aug. 22.
Additionally, I-15 will close in both directions underneath 4400 South overnight Aug. 23-24, from 10 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.
Drivers are being advised to use 1900 West, Riverdale Road and Cozy Dale Drive as detour routes during construction and to plan ahead for their commutes through the area. Meanwhile, patrons of the Ogden Airport should use 31st Street to access the airport.
UTA bus route 640 will be suspended along 4400 South during construction. Route 640 will instead be accessible on Riverdale Road between 1150 West and 1900 West. The pedestrian overpass will remain intact, however.
A public open house to be attended by the contractor — during which the construction schedule, detour routes and project impacts and benefits will be discussed — is scheduled for Aug. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Riverdale Community Center, located at 4360 Parker Drive.
