OGDEN — Crews from the Ogden City Fire Department and North View Fire District were called to the 800 block of 1100 North Saturday afternoon to contain a fire affecting two Ogden homes.

According to a release from Ogden City Fire, crews were dispatched to the location at approximately 4:41 p.m. amid reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered smoke and flames coming from a single-family home and spreading into another. Extra resources were immediately requested to assist with suppression efforts at both homes.

While no occupants were inside the homes at the time of the incident, firefighters reportedly rescued two dogs, a cat and a pet bird. Meanwhile, firefighters had water on both houses “within minutes” and were able to successfully extinguish the flames.

In total, 28 firefighters from Ogden City and North View responded to the fire, along with three engines, three ladder trucks, an ambulance, a paramedic truck and other resources.

The initial damage estimates are approximately $250,000 per home, according to the release; the Red Cross was contacted to assist those impacted. The Ogden Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

“We commend the professionalism and teamwork displayed by all responding personnel, whose actions helped protect the home and the surrounding community,” the release stated.
