According to a press release from late May, Snowbasin Resort is set to open its doors for a summer full of activities on Saturday.
Among those activities this summer will be the opening of a new bike trail, according to Snowbasin General Manager Davy Ratchford.
“Summer at Snowbasin is about creating unforgettable moments for all guests — from families and festivalgoers to athletes and outdoor lovers,” he said in the release. “This year, we’re especially proud to partner with Eden Valley Trails to bring a new trail and offering to life. The new addition is a part of our aim to make Snowbasin not only a top-tier ski resort but a year-round outdoor recreation hub that serves our local community and beyond.”
The release adds that the trail will open later in the summer season.
“Snowbasin and Eden Valley Trails are working closely with the Utah High School Cycling League of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) to ensure the route can be used for both NICA sanctioned events and others,” the release said. “The new Hidden Trail Race Loop will span roughly seven miles and include rolling singletrack, flow sections, moderate technical climbs, and areas optimized for spectator access. Purposefully built for high school mountain bike racing, the design allows for around 500-1,000 participants per race. Hidden Trail Loop is expected to be completed for preview ahead of the 2025 NICA race season in mid-August.”
Other activities at Snowbasin this summer will include:
- Gondola access — “Needles Gondola will operate Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering guests scenic rides to 8,700 feet with access to lift-served hiking and biking trails,” the release said. “Tickets can be purchased online or in person at the resort. Snowbasin Premier Pass Holders enjoy complimentary summer gondola access as part of their annual pass benefits.”
- Mountain biking and hiking trails — “Snowbasin currently features more than 20 trails spanning over 26 miles, offering a mix of lift-served and trailhead-accessible options for bikers and hikers of all abilities,” the release said. “Guests can explore alpine terrain across 3,000 acres with routes ranging from gentle forested paths to technical downhill runs. Continued enhancements are underway this summer, including the construction of the Hidden Trail Race Loop. Due to deep snowpack from the 2024-25 winter season, upper-mountain trail access may be delayed early in the summer.”
- Mountain-top brunch — “On Sundays, guests can take a scenic gondola ride to Needles Lodge located 8,700 feet above sea level for Snowbasin’s unmatched Mountain-Top Brunch, served from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.,” the release said. “Attendees can indulge in a wide array of premium dishes, or further customize their experience at the resort’s made-to-order stations, where skilled chefs create omelets and waffles tailored to guest’s preferences.”
- Mini-Golf — “Snowbasin’s 18-hole Wildflower Mini-Golf Course, located at the base area between Needles Gondola and John Paul Express, will be open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays during regular summer operations,” the release said. “The course is also available for private group bookings and events. Tickets can be purchased in person or online.”
- Blues and brews — “NEW this year, Snowbasin’s popular outdoor concert series, Blues & Brews, will add an extra day to its weekly rotation now taking over the base area on Saturdays and Sundays through August 24,” the release said. “This lively festival features a full afternoon of live music, local craft brews and delicious dining from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. Tickets for can be purchased online, while Snowbasin Premier Pass Holders will receive free entry. The full concert line-up can be found on the resort’s website.”
- SnowWiesn Oktoberfest — “The resort’s lively, German- inspired fall festival, SnowWiesn Oktoberfest, will return every Saturday and Sunday beginning on August 30,” the release said. “Guests can enjoy traditional Bavarian cuisine, a bustling mountain market, family-friendly activities, and a rotating lineup of live music through October 12.”
Additionally, work will continue on the replacement of the Becker Lift throughout the summer along with other infrastructure projects.
