The digital Veterans Honor Wall is unveiled during a special ceremony at Layton Hills Mall on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025. Mall officials are hoping to make this a yearly display around Veterans Day.

LAYTON — Organizers are hoping a new way of honoring local veterans will become a staple of Veterans Days to come.

On Friday, Layton Hills Mall played host to Veterans Appreciation Day where officials debuted the Veterans Honor Wall.

According to Glady Larsen, marketing and community engagement manager at Layton Hills Mall, said the mall has worked with entities such as the American Legion and Operation Hero to make it possible.

“We have come together to compile a lot of these names to honor our military and our veterans because, let’s face it — they are the reason why we get to experience our freedoms every single day,” she said. “The wall is actually a digital wall. Take One Audiovisual is the one that helped us with this wall, so we are renting the wall for our display. The digital display will be there until Veterans Day on Nov. 11. It is a 10-foot by 10-foot wall and it allows us to display as many as we can.”

She said that they have collected the names of around 200 area veterans and were looking for more to add throughout the weekend.

“We are really excited because we fell that the names that we have gathered are an opportunity for us to know our community, so it’s very local,” she said.

Additionally, Larsen said some people have submitted photos and short stories about family and friends that are veterans.

Larsen said the hope is to bring the Honor Wall back to Layton Hills Mall each year around Veterans Day.

“It has been so significant and our families really are looking for that recognition of what our own family members have done for our community,” she said. “I think this is just a great opportunity for them to be able to say thanks and also to make it visible that there’s a lot more people than we think (serving/that have served). We might know a lot of people that have served in the military, but it’s displays like this that allow the community to truly get an opportunity to see what they’re doing and who is participating and who’s supporting our freedom. We’re just hopeful that, within our community, this is going to be an opportunity for us to turn gratitude into connection and to give the community space to be grateful.”

The Honor Wall will be displayed at Layton Hills Mall through Veterans Day on Tuesday.
