Clearfield city's new logo, unveiled as part of its 2024 rebranding as "Utah's Military City."April Fool’s Day on Wednesday meant light-hearted posts on Facebook from various cities and agencies.
Clearfield City announced that it was merging with Syracuse.
“Clearfield and Syracuse have been working to combine into what will now be referred to as CLEARACUSE,” the post read.
“We’re so excited for this expansion and the opportunities it will bring to both residents, businesses, and employees. City offices will remain in what used to be Clearfield for the time being.
“We’re currently in discussions with other cities in the 84015 zip code in the hopes for additional expansion. We’ll keep you up to date as we communicate the upcoming changes to the city!

The Kaysville Police Department announced new citations.
“Starting today,” the post read, “we will be issuing citations for the following:
“- slamming on the brakes when you see us (we weren’t even looking for you, but now you got our attention)
“- running late (stop pretending like you weren’t speeding 5 seconds ago)
“- and looking straight ahead like we don’t exist when we pull up next to you (it’s kinda rude not to wave at us)
“APRIL FOOLS! Please drive normal, follow posted speed limit signs, and obey the law. And remember… we notice. We always notice”
The Kaysville Fire Department said it “responded to an unusual… internal incident at Fire Station 61” involving water and foam.
“A probationary firefighter reportedly put water where foam goes, and foam where water goes, on a frontline fire engine,” the post read. “This resulted in what experts are now calling ‘an aggressive over-application’ of foam throughout the apparatus bay.
“The situation quickly escalated as a large volume of foam began to fill the bay and exit the station, creating a steady flow down the driveway and onto Main Street.
“Residents can expect minor delays in the area as crews work to manage the incident. Current projections estimate impacts to Main Street may last anywhere from 1 to 3 business days, depending on foam morale and cooperation levels.
“In the meantime, motorists are encouraged to take advantage of this complimentary service. If your vehicle is in need of a wash, simply drive slowly through the affected area for a premium, touchless clean.
“Fire Chief Paul Erickson briefly addressed the situation, stating, ‘I… I don’t even know how you–‘ before walking away to reassess several life and career decisions.
“No injuries have been reported. The probationary firefighter is safe and is currently undergoing advanced training in ‘tank identification and decision-making.’
“We will continue to monitor the situation closely throughout the day, April 1st.

Syracuse City posted about a whale sighting, saying:
“Multiple reports have come in this morning of a whale sighting in the Great Salt Lake near Syracuse. Witnesses describe it as ‘very majestic,’ ‘definitely real,’ and ‘possibly just a ripple.’
“After further review, we can confirm this sighting is about as true as mosquitoes being completely eradicated from Utah. … So let this be a reminder to get your yards mosquito-proofed by eliminating standing water.
“Happy April Fools’ Day from Syracuse City!”
