OGDEN — Weber State University is gearing up for the second annual Day of Giving.

This year’s Day of Giving is set for April 9-10.

WSU Associate Director of Alumni Relations Amber Robson told the Standard-Examiner in an e-mail that the Day of Giving is the school’s premier philanthropy event.

“Weber State’s Day of Giving is a 24-hour, university-wide celebration of philanthropy taking place April 9-10,” she said. “Now in its second year, it brings together alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the community to support what matters most to them. We encourage donors to give to their passions — because every gift, no matter the size, helps create real opportunities for our students. When we come together, we can truly change lives.”

Robson said the first Day of Giving brought in nearly $100,000 in donations.

“Our Weber State supporters are incredible and we’re excited to build on the momentum from last year, when our community came together to raise over $94,000,” she said. “This year, donors can support what matters most to them through 59 fundraisers representing colleges, departments, and programs across campus. It’s all about connecting people to causes they’re passionate about and showing the real impact of their support. Throughout the day, we’ll engage our community through email and social media to celebrate progress and build momentum.”

She added that there is a big takeaway from the first iteration that will be applied to this year’s event.

“Last year showed us how powerful it is to make giving simple, visible, and connected to real impact,” she said. “Donors can choose to support multiple areas or focus on a single fundraiser, and we saw each group rally their communities in meaningful ways. One of our biggest takeaways was the importance of clearly showing where each gift goes and how it makes a difference. This year, we’ve focused on strengthening that connection by working closely with campus partners to highlight specific projects and share more compelling stories. When you support Weber State, you’re also supporting the broader community — from healthcare and engineering to the arts and beyond.”

Robson said there is a main focus for this year’s Day of Giving.

“This year, the Day of Giving directly supports the Amplify Weber State campaign, which aims to prepare the university to serve students and communities for decades to come,” she said. “Our goals are to increase participation, reach new donors, strengthen relationships with current supporters, and foster a lasting culture of philanthropy. Essentially, we want more people involved, more impact made, and a stronger foundation for the future of Weber State.”

She said the Day of Giving is ultimately a way of giving back to the community WSU calls home.

“Weber State is here for you because of you. The Day of Giving is all about community,” she said. “For more than 137 years, Weber State has grown thanks to the generosity and engagement of its students, alumni, and friends. This day is an opportunity for everyone to come together to support students, programs, and initiatives that make a difference every day at Weber State. Every gift, no matter the size, helps our students succeed and strengthens the community that makes Weber State so special.”
