Pop-up location encourages patrons to cast their vote during First Friday Art Stroll

OGDEN — The time to cast your vote is near, but it’s not on election day.

According a to a press release from Ogden City Arts, a pop up at the August First Friday Art Stroll — set for this Friday from 6-9 p.m. — will ask visitors to vote in the People’s Choice Awards.

“Visit the Union Station during First Friday Art Stroll and cast your vote in the People’s Choice Award for the current Community Art Show, ‘America 250.’ This special exhibition celebrates America’s 250th birthday through the creative vision of local and regional artists,” the release said. Explore the inspiring artwork on display, then vote for your favorite piece. The artist receiving the most public votes will be recognized at a future awards reception.”

People’s Choice voting is open from 6-8:30 p.m. during First Friday Art Stroll.

Meanwhile, this week’s First Friday Art Stroll will also play host ot the kickoff of the 52nd Annual Statewide Competition Exhibition at the Eccles Art Center.

“This highly anticipated exhibition showcases some of Utah’s finest artistic talent, bringing together a diverse collection of works from artists across the state,” the release said. “The exhibition will fill both the Main Gallery and Carriage House Gallery, featuring artwork in a wide range of styles, mediums, and perspectives. From traditional painting and sculpture to innovative contemporary approaches, the Statewide Competition highlights the creativity, technical skill, and artistic vision that define Utah’s vibrant arts community.

“An Opening Reception and Awards Presentation will be held on Friday, August 7, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. as part of Ogden’s First Friday Art Stroll. The event is free and open to the public. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet participating artists, view the award-winning works, and celebrate the achievements of Utah’s creative community. For more than five decades, the Statewide Competition has served as one of Utah’s premier juried exhibitions, providing artists with a respected platform to exhibit their work while offering the public an exceptional opportunity to engage with contemporary art from across the state.”

The exhibition will be open through August 29. The final weekend of the exhibition will feature the return of Art in Bloom.
