According to a traffic alert on the UDOT website, at 1:36 p.m., traffic had been halted on all lanes of eastbound I-84, adjacent to the fire around milepost 81.

On the Utah DOT Facebook page, it said: “Fire affecting eastbound I-84. Eastbound I-84 and the southbound I-15 to eastbound I-84 ramp are CLOSED due to a wildfire. Fire crews are on scene. Unknown estimate for opening.”

According to reports, firefighters on the scene were attempting to keep the flames from reaching an American First Credit Union building, which had been evacuated.

There is no official word at this time on what caused the fire, damages, evacuations, the size of the blaze or its status as of press time.
