The first page is dedicated to Jody Thackeray, 68, and his daughter Desiree Thackeray, 40 — both of Ogden — who were killed in a three-vehicle crash on I-215 in Salt Lake City on Aug. 25.

“Jody and Desiree were the heart of our family–full of love, kindness, and a light that brightened every room they walked into,” the description on the GoFundMe page reads. “To lose a father and daughter at the exact same time is a profound nightmare that we are still trying to process.While we grieve this monumental loss, our family is facing an immediate, multi-layered crisis. Jody was the primary provider and full-time caregiver for two vulnerable loved ones who relied on him completely. They currently have no means of supporting themselves, and without Jody, they are at immediate risk of losing their home.At the same time, we are wrapping our arms around the two survivors of this horrific accident, Joseph Vigil and Rico Montanez, whose physical, mental, and emotional roads to recovery are incredibly long and steep.We are setting up this GoFundMe because the financial hurdles building up around us are insurmountable without your help.”

The fundraiser page notes that proceeds will be used for saving the Thackeray Family House, medical expenses and other expenses.

A second GoFundMe page was set up for the family of 22-year-old Charlie Despain of North Ogden who was killed in a head-on motorcycle collision in Idaho on Friday.

“Charlie was a compassionate person, a loyal friend, a brother to many, and a careful soul who cared for many,” the fundraiser’s description reads. “Charlie was one of the best people anyone could have known, and the loss has been heartbreaking for everyone who knew and loved Charlie. Charlie passed away in a motorcycle accident, leaving family and friends shocked, grieving, and trying to navigate an incredibly painful time. This fundraiser is being created to support Charlie’s loved ones as they face the difficult days ahead and work to honor Charlie’s life with the care and dignity Charlie deserves.”

The GoFundMe page noted that the funds raised will be used for funeral expenses.
