Interested parties view various zoning proposals and give feedback on updates during a Zone Ogden open house on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025.OGDEN — Zone Ogden’s final public open house is upon the city.
After more than a year of gathering feedback, Ogden residents will have one more chance to ask questions and give input on a new zoning proposal Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Ogden Union Station.
Ogden Planning Manager Barton Brierley told the Standard-Examiner that Wednesday will be an opportunity to learn what changes to city codes will be going before the city in the coming months.
“We are providing an opportunity to learn about, and give feedback on, our unified updated development code,” he said. “We’ve been working over the last couple of years to update our zoning, subdivision, site plan and landmarks commission ordinances and modernize those. We’ve prepared a draft and this will be an opportunity for the public to come in, ask questions and learn about it.”
Since the last open house in October, Brierley said officials have worked hard to come up with a document to take before the people and, eventually, the city.
“We’ve taken a lot of public input, met with individuals and had work sessions with City Council,” he said. “Specific language has been drafted and proposed.”
Brierley said there will be drafts of the code available at Wednesday’s open house along with visuals and experts to answer questions.
“We’re hoping to answer questions if people want to know what it’s about, how it might affect what they’re proposing or doing,” he said.
He noted that there will still be opportunities to give feedback on elements of the draft both at Wednesday night’s open house and afterward.
Brierley added that the updated codes are set to go before the Ogden City Planning Commission’s meeting on March 11. Public comment will also be accepted at this time.
In the meantime, Brierley said that the Zone Ogden process has been a success in gathering voices from across the city.
“We’ve been just really excited about how much public input we’ve had over the last couple of years,” he said. “A lot of good information on how we can make the community better, a real positive attitude about Ogden and its future from a lot of the community and a lot of good suggestions on how we can make the codes work better to help Ogden keep growing.”
