The North Station Lane bridge over I-15 in Farmington, which replaces the Shepard Lane bridge that was demolished earlier this year, opened to traffic on Monday, Nov. 24, 2025.FARMINGTON — A good portion of southbound I-15 in Farmington and Centerville is set to close for a night to begin the weekend.
According to a press release from UDOT, this closure will include five miles of southbound I-15.
“On Friday, Jan. 9 at 9 p.m., crews will begin closing lanes on southbound I-15 from Park Lane/North Station (Exit 325) in Farmington to Parrish Lane (Exit 319) in Centerville for pedestrian bridge work,” the release said. “Southbound I-15 will fully close at 10:30 p.m. and remain closed until 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10. Lanes will gradually reopen, with all lanes open by 7 a.m.”
The release adds that this is a part of the continuing Shepard Lane interchange project. The new North Station Lane bridge over I-15 — which replaced the old Shepard Lane overpass — began taking traffic in November.
At the time, UDOT Region One Communications Manager Mitch Shaw told the Standard-Examiner to expect similar closures throughout 2026 to help finish up the project.
“We still have work on the interchange that needs to be done and a lot of work left with some of the new pedestrian structures we are building further to the south, at Park Lane,” he said. “Park Lane multimodal improvements include a new multimodal path connecting FrontRunner facilities on the west side of I-15 to Park Lane east of US-89.”
Throughout the project, there have been several occasions where lanes of I-15 have had to be temporarily shut down to help facilitate the project. Additionally, the project is also meant to improve bicycle access to existing area trails.
The Shepard Lane interchange project is expected to finish up later in the year. For more information on the project, visit https://udotinput.utah.gov/shepardlaneinterchange.
