OGDEN — The victim of Tuesday’s fatal motorcycle accident has been identified.

According to a press release from the Ogden City Police Department received late Thursday afternoon, officers were summoned to the 3300 block of Washington Boulevard around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a report of a serious motorcycle crash.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on Washington Boulevard when a Ford Escape exited the parking lot at 3355 Washington Boulevard and attempted to make a left-hand turn,” the release said. “The motorcycle, which was being operated by 68-year-old Robert Bow, was unable to avoid the collision and struck the front of the Ford Escape.

“Tragically, Mr. Bow died as a result of the crash. Witnesses and Ogden Fire personnel attempted lifesaving measures at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.”

The release said that the Weber Metro Crash Team was activated and is continuing to investigate the collision.

“We recognize that incidents like this are painful for the family, those who witnessed the crash, and the first responders who came to help,” the release said. “We are grateful to the community members who stopped to assist or attempted to provide aid, and we appreciate the work of our officers, firefighters, and medical personnel who responded to a very difficult scene.”

The press release also urges people to be cautious sharing the road with motorcycles.

“As we move through the summer months, we also want to remind everyone to use extra caution on our roads. Summer is often one of the deadliest times of year for traffic crashes,” the release said. “Please slow down, stay alert, keep a proper lookout for motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, and other vehicles, and make safe driving a priority every time you get behind the wheel.”
