Ziaire Jacob Ham, 22, was arrested in Ogden on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

ROY — A firearm tied to a Las Vegas homicide case was located over the weekend.

The Ogden City Police Department announced Saturday evening in a press release that a plea from law enforcement to the public had paid off.

“The handgun investigators were seeking has been located and recovered as of today,” the release said. “A citizen in Roy contacted dispatch after locating the firearm, and the Roy Police Department responded and safely recovered it. We appreciate the vigilance of the community member who called it in and thank the Roy Police Department for their teamwork and assistance in bringing this portion of the investigation to a safe resolution.”

The handgun search stemmed from an incident that had occurred Tuesday of last week.

“On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at approximately 3:58 p.m., officers with the Ogden Police Department received an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) alert for a stolen vehicle wanted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department,” an earlier press release said.  “Utilizing information from the ALPR, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled. With assistance from neighboring agencies, the vehicle was later located in Roy, Utah. Officers took the suspect into custody without further incident.”

According to the release, Ziaire Jacob Ham, 22, was booked into the Weber County Jail on the following charges:

“Receiving or Transferring a Stolen Vehicle (Second-Degree Felony)

Failure to Respond to an Officer’s Signal to Stop (Third-Degree Felony)

Reckless Driving (Class B Misdemeanor)”

The release added that Ham is wanted in connection with a double homicide.

“The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating Ham in connection with a double homicide involving a female and a toddler that occurred in Las Vegas, Nevada,” the release said. “Detectives from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department are working closely with Ogden Police Department detectives as the investigation continues.”

Ham had allegedly thrown the handgun out of the window and authorities asked the public in both Ogden and Roy to aid in the search.

While Saturday evening’s release states that the handgun was recovered in Roy, a precise location was unavailable Monday afternoon. It was also stated that the investigation into the original double homicide is ongoing and that no further information will be released by the Ogden City Police Department at this time.
