Gasoline prices in Ogden, as well as in Utah and across the United States, continue to surge.

According to a press release from GasBuddy, the average price Monday in Ogden was $3.56 per gallon, up 40.5 cents from last week and 83.5 cents higher than a month ago.

Ogden’s cheapest station sat at $3.09 per gallon, while its most expensive station checked in at $3.89 per gallon, according to reports cited in the release.

In Utah, the average price per gallon of gasoline is currently $3.57, up 40.6 cents from a week ago, the release stated.

Nationally, the average price per gallon of gasoline has gone up 23.2 cents since a week ago and is now $3.68, according to data from GasBuddy that was cited in the release. The national average has increased 80.0 cents from a month ago, the release stated.

The figures were according to a GasBuddy survey which includes 160 Ogden stations and price reports covering over 150,000 stations in the United States, the release explained.

“Consumers continue to feel the sting of rising oil, gasoline, and diesel costs as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East remain elevated, pushing gasoline prices to their highest levels in years while diesel could soon approach the $5-per-gallon mark nationally,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said in the release. “Until we see a meaningful resumption of oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, upward pressure on fuel prices is likely to persist. At the same time, seasonal forces are beginning to intensify as several regions complete the transition to summer gasoline, creating a double headwind that could continue driving pump prices higher in the weeks ahead.”

At the Charlie’s Market that sells Chevron with Techron gasoline in Layton on the northeast corner of Fairfield Road and Gentile Street, gasoline was $3.59 on Monday. That was up from $3.19 on March 8 and $2.73 on March 1, according to figures provided by manager Jon Stender.

According to Stender, customers have complained and asked when prices are going to go back down, and he has just had to tell them he has no idea.

“A lot of questions, and the spending inside is a lot less because people are spending their money on gas instead of the inside stuff,” he said.

The sudden spike breaks the trend of falling prices since 2022. The average price for a gallon of gasoline on March 16, 2022, in Ogden was $4.31 per gallon, according to the release. On March 16, 2023, it was $3.82; on March 16, 2024, it was $3.30; and on March 16, 2025, it was $2.94, the release stated.
