Fire crews extinguish a blaze at a salvage yard in Ogden on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
OGDEN — Firefighters were summoned to a salvage yard fire Wednesday afternoon in Ogden.
According to a press release from the Ogden City Fire Department, crews were called to a report of a vehicle fire in the 700 W block of 17th Street around 12:03 pm. Wednesday.
“Fire and smoke were showing from a fenced salvage yard on arrival,” the release said. “The first arriving Officer reported that a building was involved and called for a full response. Moments later, the officer requested a 2nd alarm due to the rapid spread and growth of the fire.
“Firefighters executed a rapid attack on the fire, containing it within the first hour. Crews conducted a search of the structure and confirmed that all occupants were out. There have been no injuries reported for this incident.”
The release, which was received at 2:45 p.m., implied that the fire had not been fully extinguished yet, stating that “fire crews will remain on scene for a while to obtain full extinguishment.”

Additionally, the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Ogden City Fire Department Investigations Division.
“Initial reports are that workers were removing parts from a vehicle outside of the shop when the blaze started,” the press release said. “Investigators are following up on this during their investigation.”
The structure involved sustained heavy damage and several vehicles around the building were destroyed. Damages are estimated at $200,000. In addition to the Ogden City Fire Department, assets from the Weber Fire District, Roy, Riverdale and South Ogden also responded to Wednesday’s fire.
