People ski down the mountain on opening weekend at Snowbasin Resort on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025.

The ski season at Snowbasin is over.

Saturday marked the final day of what has been an underwhelming – to say the least – season on the slopes.

As of 5:53 a.m. MT on Saturday, the resort had a 48-inch base and was at 124 total inches for the season.

According to onthesnow.com, the average base of snow at Snowbasin in March is 89 inches with a maximum base depth of 219 inches.

“It’s hard to believe we’re at this point in the season yet again, with warmer temperatures settling in and another winter on the mountain coming to a close,” said Davy Ratchford, general manager of Snowbasin Resort, in a press release. “It’s never easy to make the call on a closing date, but in this industry, we work with the hand Mother Nature deals us, reflect on the memories made, and keep the stoke alive for the season to come.”

Ratchford acknowledged the challenges this past winter brought but said workers “stayed focused on delivering a great experience and making the most of every opportunity on the mountain.”

He called it “a true team effort.”

The average temperature for this past astronomical winter – based on a fixed range of Dec. 21 through March 20 and taken from Ogden Hinckley Airport – was 48.43 degrees according to weatherunderground.com, the highest according to records on the site for that date range going back 2008-09.
