OGDEN — A teenager was severely injured following a traffic incident Sunday evening in Ogden.

According to a press release from the Ogden City Police Department, an accident was reported around 10:07 p.m. at the intersection of Seventh Street and Adams Avenue.

“A 14-year-old male was traveling northbound on Adams Avenue on a mini motorcycle when he entered the intersection and came into the path of an eastbound passenger vehicle operated by a 40-year-old female,” the release said. “The driver was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision. Impairment is not suspected as a contributing factor.”

According to the release, the officers and medical personnel provided immediate aid at the scene before the teen was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The press release adds that this is a good time to review safety when using e-transportation devices.

“This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of the safe and lawful operation of mini motorcycles, e-bikes, e-motorcycles, and e-scooters,” the release said. “Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their children about the risks associated with these devices and to ensure they understand and follow applicable traffic laws.”

The press release concludes by noting the investigation into Sunday’s accident is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
