The current representative for Utah’s 1st congressional district, who is running in the 2nd district as established through a court-ordered map that reconfigures the 1st district around Democrat-heavy Salt Lake County, picked up the endorsements from U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan.
“Congressman Blake Moore is an America First patriot and conservative leader who fights tirelessly for Utah’s 1st District,” read the statement from Johnson. “As a valued Member in House Republican leadership and on the Ways and Means Committee, Blake has helped deliver working families tax cuts, a secure border, American energy dominance, and peace through strength, while also defending our troops, veterans, and principles that have made America the greatest nation on Earth. I am proud to ENDORSE Congressman Blake Moore in Utah’s 2nd District, and look forward to working with him to defend and grow our majority and CONTINUE our American comeback!”
The statement by Jordan read:
“Blake Moore is a close friend and a proven fighter for conservative values. Together, we have worked tirelessly to rein in big government, root out fraud and waste, end DEI and the weaponization of the federal government, defend free speech, and advance President Trump’s agenda. Now, more than ever, we need leaders like Blake Moore in Congress.”
Moore, who assumed office in 2021, is being challenged for the seat by Karianne Lisonbee, who represents Davis County’s House District 14.
Lisonbee, who has served the county since 2017, has been endorsed by Utah House Speaker Mike Schultz, according to The Post Millennial.
“Never before have we needed bold conservatives more,” Schultz said in the story by Thomas Stevenson. “We need people with the experience and the grit to actually get things done in Congress.”
He added, according to the story:
“I trust Karianne Lisonbee. She’s not just a stalwart conservative, but she gets things done. I am proud to endorse her and look forward to working hard to get her to Washington. Utah needs her, America needs her.”
