Weber County Sheriff’s Office reports inmate death at jail

According to a press release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, the death was reported at around 10 a.m. Tuesday.
“A deputy at the Weber County Jail discovered the unresponsive individual in their cell and began lifesaving measures,” the release said. “The medical team and EMS personnel responded to assist. Life-saving measures were ultimately unsuccessful, and the individual was pronounced deceased.
The release adds that initial investigations show the individual “suffered a medical event that was not self-inflicted.”
“The death is currently under investigation and will follow the Weber County Critical Incident Protocol, with the Weber County Attorney’s Office heading the investigation,” the release said. “The Weber County Sheriff’s Office extends condolences to the family of the deceased. We also thank our deputies, support staff, medical team, and EMS responders for diligently performing their duties and for their assistance in these difficult situations.”
The release concludes by noting next of kin has been notified and that no further information will be released at this time.
