“At approximately 6:45 p.m. on September 23, a Weber County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was in the immediate area and came upon a collision involving a child and a vehicle near 2500 W 2550 S in West Haven,” a press release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page stated. “The deputy immediately rendered emergency medical aid, including CPR, and requested additional emergency resources.”

The post noted that the child was a 6-year-old girl who was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and the family was notified.

Thursday morning, an update was made to the post announcing that the child had succumbed to her injuries in the early morning hours.

The post said the driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.

“The Weber County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Weber Metro C.R.A.S.H. Team, is handling the ongoing investigation,” the post said. “Due to the ongoing investigation and the child’s privacy, no additional information will be released at this time.”

The update also reiterated that the investigation is ongoing and that no further information is expected to be released at this time.

“Our thoughts are with this young girl and her family, as well as the first responders and community members affected by this difficult incident,” the post concludes.
