Harmons leaving Ogden location

By Standard-Examiner Staff - | Jul 16, 2015

OGDEN — Harmons grocery store at the Five Points Shopping Center on 2nd Street in Ogden will soon become home to a new Ridley’s Family Market.

Executives of the two companies said in a press release Thursday that transition plans are underway, with the ownership switch expected to take place in mid-September, subject to finalizing consents and approvals.

By taking over the Five Points location, Ridley’s will increase its presence in Ogden, and Harmons will expand south with new stores under construction in Lehi and Santa Clara. Harmons also has stores in Roy and Farmington.

“Ridley’s has a strong presence and customer base in Northern Utah,” said Mark Ridley, director of operations for Ridley’s Family Market. “Like Harmons, we pride ourselves in being a family owned and operated company, and we are confident that adding this new location will allow us to even better serve our customers.”

Executives said they hope to offer positions to current Harmons employees. Many Harmons associates will be given the opportunity to transfer to another Harmons location, while others will be offered new positions at Ridley’s, they said.
