KAYSVILLE — Banking with Wells Fargo will get much easier in the spring for residents in and around “Utah’s Hometown” as officials work to submit architectural designs for company’s the sole Kaysville location. Extensive damage caused by a single-vehicle crash in May led to a longterm closure of the branch.

Tony Timmons, Wells Fargo’s vice president of communications, said the incident is providing an opportunity for the financial institution to construct a more modern design for customers.

“We’ve had a lot of inquiries and a lot of excitement from the community,” Timmons said.

As the popular branch, offering Saturday hours, remained closed and boarded up, customers were directed to other locations with the nearest being 2 miles away and closed on Saturdays.

According to Timmons, there are no plans to level the existing structure located at 250 N Main St., which is missing an entire wall due to the May crash, in which the driver of a Tesla failed to navigate a turn, crashing through the wall and coming to a rest inside the building.

There were no injuries reported, as the bank was closed at the time of the crash around 8:37 p.m.

It wasn’t immediately clear who is paying for damages caused to the structure; however, Timmons said Wells Fargo is paying for all modern improvements to the facility.

The Kaysville Police Department did not respond to requests for comment on the estimated cost of the damages, whether a citation was issued to the driver and details as to what caused the driver to leave the roadway.

Timmons said the company is eager to have the Kaysville branch up and operating again and hopes to hold a community celebration upon its reopening.
