A machine that installs underground fiber sits outside the June 6, 2023, All West Communications ceremony in South Ogden launching development of a network in the city.OGDEN — As expected, All West Communications has started development of a fiber network in Ogden, the third Weber County city where it has announced expansion plans.
It joins Connext in bringing more broadband offerings to Ogden, boding for more competition in the sector and millions of dollars in investment in Northern Utah.
“The expansion is part of the company’s regional development and growth plans, and Ogden city is a critical component in the development of our system,” Matt Weller, the All West president, said in a statement. All West held a ceremony on June 6 to launch development of a network in South Ogden and launched its installation of a network in North Ogden last February.
The Ogden fiber network will pass 27,000 homes and businesses, the All West statement said, and be capable of handling traditional internet, streaming TV and digital phone services. Development of the network, to be funded by Kamas-based All West, started this month and will take “several years” to complete, the company statement said.
Aside from Ogden, Connext, based in Ogden, is expanding into South Ogden, Farr West and Plain City in Weber County plus Kaysville, Clinton and South Weber in Davis County, among other locales. UTOPIA Fiber is developing a network in West Haven, joining such incumbents as Comcast and CenturyLink.
