Ogden, Weber school districts’ years ending, new crop of seniors graduating
OGDEN — School’s almost out in Weber County, which means another crop of high school seniors will be cut loose to prepare for college, join the military, take on the world and more.
“Everything is back to normal this year with in-person graduation ceremonies,” said Weber School District spokesperson Lane Findlay, referencing changes to ceremonies in 2020 and 2021 brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. “We’re also back at the Dee Events Center for most of our graduations after a two-year hiatus.”
The action got moving on Monday with consecutive graduation ceremonies for Fremont, Weber and Roy high schools at the Dee Events Center on the Weber State University campus. Bonneville High School will hold its graduation ceremony at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Dee.
Also on Tuesday, Weber Innovation High School holds its ceremony at noon at the Shepherd Union on the Weber State campus while the Weber School District’s adult education program will hold a ceremony at 5 p.m. at the Marriott-Slaterville City Office Park. The Two Rivers High School ceremony is set for Wednesday at The Monarch in Ogden while the Life Program held a ceremony for graduates last week.
In the Ogden School District, the ceremony for Ben Lomond High School seniors is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday while the Ogden High School graduation will occur Wednesday at 5 p.m. The ceremonies will be at the football fields of the respective schools. George Washington High School will hold its ceremony at 5 p.m. Thursday at Weber State’s Shepherd Union.
The official last day of school for students in the two districts is Friday.
The number of graduates coming from the varied Weber School District facilities totals 2,417, with 638 coming from Weber High School, 625 from Fremont High School, 538 from Roy High School and 383 from Bonneville High School. Official graduation rates for Utah schools for the 2020-2021 school year are to be released next fall.
