Comedian Rainn Wilson is set to speak at Weber State University's general commencement on April 26, 2024.

OGDEN — A star of one of the most quotable sitcoms of the last 20 years is coming to Ogden.

On Friday, Weber State University announced in a press release that comedian Rainn Wilson — who appeared as Dwight Schrute in the American version of “The Office” — will headline WSU’s spring commencement on April 26.

“This year, we want to forge a new tradition where commencement serves as both a celebration of our students’ achievements and an engaging community event,” WSU President Brad Mortensen said in Friday’s release. “An acclaimed actor and creative thinker like Rainn Wilson can offer unique and inspiring insights to our graduates and will make the day even more memorable for them.”

The release added that Wilson will receive an honorary degree from WSU “along with three other individuals who have made an impact in the community and state,” though they weren’t named in the release, which went on to say that “Wilson holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University’s Graduation Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts.”

General commencement exercises are set for 7 p.m. April 26 at the Dee Events Center. The public is welcome to attend, but Wilson will not sign autographs and no meet-and-greet events are scheduled.
