Signage posted outside the Weber Center, located at 2380 Washington Blvd. in Ogden, is seen on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021.

OGDEN — Unofficial results for the Weber County General Election show Marcia White, Bart Blair and Angela Choberka to be the presumed winners for Ogden City Council in three of the four races decided Tuesday.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve Ogden for another four years,” said White, who should hold on to her at-large seat.

Priscilla Martinez, a candidate for District 3, narrowly trails challenger Ken Richey, 960 votes to 994. Martinez said she will wait until the official results come in before commenting on the election. Official results are expected to be released on Thursday after every ballot has been counted.

City council challengers Daniel Gladwell, Sebastian Benitez and Thomas Gooch appear headed toward defeat. Benitez carried 44.7% of the vote against incumbent Blair for the other at-large seat.

Gooch was following Choberka, the District 1 incumbent, with 308 votes, or about 35% of 885 cast. “The true majority of people are not being represented by Choberka,” Gooch said.

He hopes the existing and newly elected council members will strongly resist her agenda. Other incumbents had similarly positive vote figures.

“The voters seem to like how things are going in Ogden,” Gladwell said.

Martinez and Richey ran for the only vacant seat on the City Council, District 3. Richey is presumed to take the seat with 50.9% of the vote and 1,954 votes cast, but that could change if enough remaining votes swing Martinez’s way.

White said she would like to thank all the candidates who ran for city council seats. “It is difficult to put yourself out in the arena,” she said.

Summary results found at weberelections.gov report a total of 124,273 registered voters and 34,300 ballots cast, with a voter turnout of 27.6%.
