OGDEN — A new member will be joining the three-member Weber County Commission.

Republican Sharon Bolos was headed to victory in the race for Seat B on the County Commission, easily outdistancing Libertarian hopeful Brian Rowley. Scott Jenkins now holds the post, thus Bolos, who served as West Haven mayor for two terms, would represent new blood on the body.

In the race for Seat A on the County Commission, GOP incumbent Gage Froerer, vying for his second and final term, easily outpaced Democratic challenger John Thompson, according to partial results released Tuesday evening, still unofficial.

According to the preliminary numbers, Bolos had 33,435 votes, 71.5% of the total, to 13,352 for Rowley, 28.5%. Froerer had 30,442 votes, 62.4%, while Thompson had 18,331, 37.6%.

There were contested races for two posts on the Ogden school board and one on the Weber school board. Here’s how those races were shaping up:

District 2 Ogden school board: Challenger Stacy Bernal was easily outdistancing incumbent Douglas Barker, 1,176 votes to 624, a 65.3%-34.7% margin.

District 4 Ogden school board: Incumbent Amber Allred had 986 votes, 54.2%, to 833 for challenger Jeremy Shinoda, 45.8%.

Precinct 6 Weber school board: Incumbent Janis Christensen had a narrow lead over challenger Heidi Gross, 3,522 votes to 3,494, a 50.2%-49.8% margin.

In Harrisville, a $6 million bond question meant to generate funds for a new recreation center was headed to defeat. It had garnered 1,212 no votes, 86.9% of the total, and 183 yes votes, 13.1%.

In the days to come, Weber County election officials will count outstanding ballots and add them to the preliminary totals before finalizing results.
