OGDEN — Weber County Democrats are getting ready for the 2024 election season with a traditional fundraiser.

This year’s Orton & McKay Fundraising Dinner, sponsored by the Weber County Democratic Party, is set for April 12 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Ogden Golf & Country Club.

“Our main speaker is Colmon Elridge, and he is the chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party,” Kate Nielsen, chair of the Weber County Democratic Party, told the Standard-Examiner. “In some ways, the state of Kentucky has similar demographics and division between the parties and they’ve had some success there. So we’ll be excited to hear what he has to say.”

She added that the fundraiser, which is open to the public, comes just before a key date on the election calendar.

“This is one of the ways we get our message out,” she said. “The very next day is the Weber Democrats’ county convention. So we’re going to start off Friday night with our fundraising dinner and have a good time. Then the next day at noon, we’re going to go through the actual process of electing state delegates.”

A silent auction, dinner, awards and live music also will be part of the event.
