According to his bio on the website for the Law Offices of John Rogers, the Brigham Young University alum — who also holds law degrees from UCLA and the University of San Diego — began his legal career as a prosecutor in Los Angeles County before returning to Utah to serve in the same role in Weber County.
Rogers was hired last month to replace Martin Gravis, who died April 25 after a long battle with cancer.
The Rogers hiring was the sole action item on Tuesday’s meeting agenda. Approved consent items included an amendment to an interlocal agreement between the county and the Ogden City Redevelopment Agency relative to tax increment collected within the Adams Community Reinvestment Area.
Created in 2018, the Adams CRA consists of roughly 151 acres of property generally bounded on the east and west by Washington Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue and on the north and south by 20th and 28th streets in Ogden and includes multiple historic buildings.
Other approved items include a contract between the county, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and Weber Basin Water Conservancy District for the county to continue its operation and maintenance of Causey Road, a request from the Emergency Management Department to surplus an ATV-mountable Tri-Max Compressed Air Foam System and a policy governing social media use by county employees.
The Weber County Commission meets every Tuesday at 10 a.m. Commission meetings are viewable online via the county’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@webercountyutah/.
