Two local hospitals are among six in the state that have been nationally recognized for delivering high-quality care.

Intermountain Layton Hospital and Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital were listed among the top performers based on the annual Vizient Quality and Accountability Study and the 2022 Dr. Bernard A. Birnbaum Quality Leadership Rankings. The other four Intermountain hospitals in the rankings are St. George Regional, Logan Regional, Cedar City Hospital and Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

“These six hospitals’ recognitions as top performers is a testament to the skill and commitment to our values and fundamentals of care,” Dr. JP Valin, Intermountain Healthcare’s chief clinical officer, stated in a press release. “Everything we do at Intermountain is for the well-being of our patients and our communities.”

The Vizient study ranks 650 hospitals based on data measurements that analyze mortality, safety, efficiency, patient centeredness, equity and effectiveness. The study demonstrates to hospitals where they stand among their peers and highlights how different health systems perform at high levels.

Vizient top official David Levine said hospitals today are using data and analytics to help them more effectively deliver superior clinical outcomes and patient experiences. He said Intermountain has demonstrated a successful leadership style, a shared sense of purpose, a focus on results and a culture of collaboration.
