SUNSET — A man is accused of kidnapping his girlfriend, but he told police she had tried to jump out of his moving truck.

Sunset police arrested Tavish Henry Snow, 46, and booked him into Davis County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping, assault, terroristic threat and violating a protective order. He is being held in lieu of $7,500 bail.

Sunset Police Chief Ken Eborn said Snow and the 45-year-old woman have had a long-term “on again/off again” relationship, and it wasn’t the first time police have been called to their homes.

On Wednesday, according to the probable cause statement, Lisa Baxter told Clearfield police that she had been walking in the area of 125 W. 1300 North, Sunset, when Snow pulled up in his truck, got out and grabbed her “… hair and put her in the truck.”

She also reported to police that Snow said, “You’re going to die today,” according to the document.

As they drove, Baxter tried to open the truck’s door to get out and rolled the window down to scream for help, but Snow kept rolling up the window. He also grabbed her by the throat and choked her, according to the document.

When they arrived at 700 S. State St., she was able to open the window and scream for help. That is when Snow let her out of the truck, and police were contacted, according to the document.

When police found Snow, he told them Baxter had come to his home that morning and was “harassing him,” according to the document.

They both then agreed to go pay a bill, and when they got in the truck, “she started freaking out telling him, ‘You’re going down,'” according to the document.

Snow told police Baxter tried to open the truck door when they were going 45 mph. He then reached over, grabbed her by the shirt collar and yanked her back inside and closed the door, according to the document.

When asked by police if Snow had made any threats toward Baxter, he admitted to saying “he was going to kick her (expletive),” according to the document.

A protective order had been issued by the Sunset court, ordering Snow to stay away from Baxter.

According to the probable cause statement, aggravating factors in the case include “several pending charges with the same victim. Last week he placed a knife to the victim’s cheek and threatened to kill her.”

According to the court website, there are several cases where Snow has been charged with domestic violence charges. In February he was charged with threat or use of a dangerous weapon, a third-degree felony. The charge was reduced to a class A misdemeanor in August, and he pleaded guilty to that charge.

On Tuesday, Snow appeared before Judge David Connors for a sentencing hearing, but his attorney, Roy Cole, had withdrawn from the case. Another sentencing hearing is set for Nov. 19.

Baxter was arrested in April and charged with 16 counts of forgery, third-degree felonies. Clinton police said she had cashed checks from her ex-boyfriend’s account to the tune of $15,400. On July 31, according to the court website, the Davis County Attorney’s Office asked the judge to dismiss all 16 charges.

The Davis County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the current case against Snow and will file formal charges in 2nd District Court.
