WEBER COUNTY — As July 4th, 2016, approaches, it’s time to review the rules that come along with lighting up the night sky with fireworks in Weber County’s unincorporated areas.

Here’s a look at the fireworks rules and restrictions that will be in effect for areas of Weber County outside of city limits.

WHEN YOU CAN SHOOT OFF FIREWORKS

Fireworks are allowed from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 1-3 and July 5-7. On the Fourth of July, they’re allowed from 11 a.m. to midnight. These rules are established by the Utah State Fire Marshal.

RESTRICTIONS

Fireworks and open fires are prohibited in all unincorporated areas east of Highway 89, Harrison Boulevard and Mountain Road, according to a statement from the Weber Fire District.

The Ogden Valley is currently exempt from these restrictions, though Weber Fire District Marshal Brandon Thueson said that could be adjusted if conditions change as the summer progresses.

The restrictions will be in effect until at least July 31 or until conditions improve, the statement said.

Campfires are allowed in approved fire pits. However, Weber Fire District encourages people to be cautious with campfires, as individuals who cause wildfires may be held responsible for the costs associated with fighting the fire, the statement said.
