LAYTON — A construction project that will repave Hill Field Road will begin Monday, May 23. 

The Utah Department of Transportation project will stretch from 1425 N. Hill Field Rd. to State Road 193 — the Bernard Fisher Highway, according to a Layton City news release.

Along with replacing the asphalt surface, UDOT will “upgrade pedestrian facilities to bring them into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).”

Here are improvements the project includes:

• Removing six inches of existing asphalt and replacing it with longer lasting concrete
• Upgraded pedestrian ramps
• Spot replacement of curbs, gutters and sidewalks
• Drainage upgrades
• Improved vehicle detection at traffic signals

Underground pipe work begins Monday, and roadway construction will start in late June, according to UDOT. Pipe work will take place nightly with single lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

“Area residents may experience an increase in noise, dust, and vibrations in the immediate vicinity of the work being conducted,” Layton City officials said in the release. “Residents with specific issues can call the project hotline at 801-859-3770 for assistance.”

The project is expected to take six months to complete.
