Ogden musician Josaleigh Pollett to produce record on Lavender Vinyl label
OGDEN– In an age of digital music downloads, Ogden musician Josaleigh Pollett wants to provide her listeners a tangible alternative.
To do this, Pollet’s friends Kylee Hallows and Blake Lundell, the owners of Lavender Vinyl, are helping her press vinyl records of her new album “Strangers.”
Pollet has recorded some of her music before, but this is the first time she has recorded with a full band.

Josaleigh Pollett is an Ogden singer and songwriter. Her new album “Strangers” is available as a digital download and a vinyl record.
Additionally, it is the first time Ogden’s Lavender Vinyl has helped a local artist create a record. All three individuals are looking forward to the outcome.
The connection a record can create between music and listeners is one aspect of the project Pollet is excited about.
As a child, she loved to read the lyrics and liner notes when she bought a CD. Producing a record will allow Pollett to give her listeners the same opportunity.
“You don’t get that with a digital download anymore,” Pollett said.
That connection is something Hallows also loves about records.
“It’s almost like you can feel the sweat and tears that went into it,” Hallows said. “It just seems so much more tangible and more of a full piece of artwork.

The album is a deeply Ogden-based project, another reason the three are so enthused.
Pollett grew up in Ogden, and many of the musicians on the album are also from the city. The studio where it was recorded is housed in an airplane hangar at the Ogden airport.
“It’s a really personal record and a good way to feel connected to my hometown,” Pollett said.
Public response for Pollett’s album has been positive. Although it is not physically available yet, Lavender Vinyl has had preorders for it.

The album should be available in the next few weeks, but is taking longer than expected. Purchasing vinyl records is very popular right now, but there aren’t many places remaining to have a record pressed in the United States, Lundell said.
Because records are more expensive to produce than CDs, Pollett’s vinyl album will have a limited 500-copy run. Ludell and Hallows said if this project goes well, other local artists are interested in pressing records, too.
Individuals interested in preordering the record can do so at Lavender Vinyl (123 25th St.) and will receive a small goodie bag with the purchase. The record is $24.99 and comes with digital download.
The album can also be bought online at josaleighpollett.bandcamp.com.
Pollett and her band will be performing at the Ogden Nature Center at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under in advance. At the gate, tickets will be $15 for adults, $10 for age 12 and under. Tickets can be bought at ogdennaturecenter.org.
