Pineview Water Systems will begin a project to replace the 1,100 foot siphon that hangs above the mouth of Ogden Canyon.

This $6 million Pineview Water project launched in the fall of 2015 and finished up this April, replacing the old secondary pipeline that had spanned the mouth of Ogden Canyon since 1937.

Pineview Water Systems will turn on its secondary water a week early to help catch leaks before irrigation season is in full swing.

The secondary system will start charing on Monday, April 10. Water managers urge secondary customers to check their master valves. Ensuring the valves are closed will prevent flooding and unwanted watering.

“Each year when we turn system on we find a host of leaks in our system,” General Manager Ben Quick said. “We’re turning on water a week early this year to identify those leaks and start repairing them earlier.”

That will ensure the secondary system is ready to meet water demands once temperatures climb.

Pineview Water Systems includes the South Ogden Conservation District and the Weber-Box Elder Conservation District, which mostly serve homes and businesses in Weber and Box Elder counties, as well as the Ogden River Water Users Association.  A map of the impacted service area is included below.
