Injured hiker rescued after fall at Farmington Creek waterfall
FARMINGTON — A 36-year-old woman was injured Sunday in a fall at Farmington Creek waterfall, and the Davis County Sheriff’s Office said Monday she has been released from the hospital and is recovering.
The hiker slipped and fell about 15 feet while descending a rope ladder, the sheriff’s office said. “The ladder is just something that has been there for years, a fixture that people will use,” said Stephanie Dinsmore, sheriff’s office spokesperson.
Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and Farmington firefighters stabilized the victim at the waterfall and a medical helicopter took her to a local hospital, the sheriff’s office said in social media posts.
Dinsmore said the woman initially was listed as being in critical condition because she was unconscious during transport to the hospital.
