“I think I do not do as much physical shopping, like going out and getting stuff. My shopping is mainly online, it is a little bit less stressful. … Very rarely do I go out on Black Friday. It is not because I do not want to go out and get stuff. … It is not like it used to be; Black Friday is a little less crazy now, it is a little more civilized, I think. There (are) still people who might grab something out of your cart. Nowadays, online shopping is for everything, not just the holidays. It is a lifesaver in a lot of ways … If you have forgot someone’s birthday, or you forgot that last item or you just ran out of something that you do not think about until it is gone.” — Alfredo Pagan, Ogden

“I definitely do a lot more online shopping … Amazon a lot. Seasonal stuff, I do all of, like, Christmas pajamas, Christmas presents and that sort of thing. … I do find local businesses that I find on Facebook and support them. I will go to a small business venue with booths and buy things. For me, I am very last-minute with gifts. Taking two toddlers out to go shopping is a hassle on its own and … I have procrastinated this much. … I will just hop online, do my shopping and let my kids destroy my house while I order stuff. … I do find small businesses on Facebook groups, and a lot of them are mostly moms who do like tumblers, shirts, keychains, things like that, so super personalized and super small businesses; I will find them online and go buy something I like from them.” — Danielle Meade, Ogden

“I would say, over the last few years they have changed a little bit. I have done a little more online shopping, but I also try to stay here in Ogden and buy something here locally in our community. Other than that, sometimes it may be harder to find something, and so we get it online. … We will go to Rainbow Gardens or little arts businesses, like down in the Junction. It is just a way to support local business and local artists. It is not like we are looking for a specific item, just something that catches our eye. … If you are looking for something specific, it almost always has to be online.” — Lavar Harris, Ogden

“I just concentrate more on family and doing more homemade (gifts) in the holiday spirit. … I do not do any online shopping and support local and smaller businesses. The spirit of Christmas is family; to me, it is all about family. I come from a very large family. It is about spending time together. My holiday shopping is done by the first of November, and I start the January before. I find those gifts that are more meaningful, and I do not stress.” — Yvonne Creamer, Harper Ward

“More local businesses and stuff like that for me. I am really a last-minute shopper and go and pick something up for somebody. I am not really even the best shopper for myself, I would say. … I believe it is more about spending time with each other and that, for my family, not so much about the gifts, just getting into the crazy fights that you can only have with family, and that drama.” — Paul Wright, Layton
