Man critically injured in 4-vehicle Hooper crash
HOOPER — A 55-year-old Hooper man was hospitalized in critical condition after a high-speed crash on Monday, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office said.
The man was the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro that ran into the back of a pickup truck stopped at a stop sign at 12:25 p.m., the sheriff’s office spokesperson, Lt. Colby Ryan, said Tuesday. The pickup was pushed into the intersection, colliding with a car and a minivan, he said.
The Camaro was eastbound on 5500 South, near Hooper Elementary School, when the crash occurred at the 5900 West intersection. The Camaro spun and crashed into a telephone pole, Ryan said.
A woman and a toddler in the minivan were taken to a hospital by ambulance and were released after treatment, Ryan said. The Hooper man was transferred to a Salt Lake County hospital and underwent surgery for head and neck injuries.
The Weber Area Crash Investigation Team is investigating the incident.
