OGDEN — Next week marks an important event for public outreach by law enforcement in Ogden.
The Ogden City Police Department’s annual National Night out will be held at Lorin Farr Park from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Lt. Will Farr, public information officer for the Ogden City Police Department, told the Standard-Examiner that the event is meant as a way for law enforcement agencies to help connect with their communities.
“National Night Out is basically an opportunity to get together law enforcement agencies and resources to be able to interact with the community and to let the community learn about what our resources are, what we do and interact in a positive manner,” he said.
Ogden’s event will include several law enforcement resources and vehicles on site as well as food, beverages, prizes and other entertainment. Farr said events like this are important for law enforcement agencies and communities.
“What we want to do is we want the community to get to know us personally that we’re people, we’re here to help them and we’re here to serve them,” he said. “We want to build the trust in our community. … We appreciate the support of Ogden. We’ve been doing this for many years and it’s only getting better and better.”
